Where Are We?

Where there's a Will there's a wave

We awoke the next morning to find the bathroom in a state. Cashbook had gone mental the previous night, smashing up most of the rooms furnishings in anger of our spending. We tried to black out the memories of the money we had spent the night before by admiring the view of Venice Beach.

We watched surfers getting into the early morning glassy waves, skaters shredding the concrete bowls and the local crazies setting up for a full day of being crazy.

It was Will’s last day. We helped the poor lad pack, as he considered the long flight, followed by the full working day he would face on his arrival back in the UK. We got in Spot, who gave a squeak of regret on news of Will’s fate, and headed to LAX airport via a cheap Mexican restaurant so that Will could enjoy his last meal in the form of a cheeky carry-out burrito. Will and Tom savoured their last burrito together while Mike indulged himself in some keepy-uppies.

We navigated to the airport, and with heavy police presence (it is an airport) some pretty intense moves were needed to get all 3 of us out of the 2-man van and onto the pavement without being arrested. We gave Will a tearful farewell (Will cried, Tom and Mike still had a month left in America, so weren’t that bothered) and then hesitantly pulled spot away from the drop-off point.

It had been two weeks of fun, and Will’s fresh presence had made our trip even more memorable! Farewell Baylis!!

  4. I might not go to Asia for Christmas and come out to America and bring a much needed cash injection to keep the trip alive and also be immortalised in some of the finest travel text written...Bill Bryson (a travel write god - like you need telling!?) would himself be immersed in the joy that this brings both visually and with brilliant tales...Tweet him? someone must be a twit head here?!
